Influence of temperature and pH on heterogenetic bacterial antigen.

چکیده
A heterogenetic antigen, labile to heat (100 C) at alkaline pH, was found in many species of gram-positive bacteria (Rantz et al., J. Infectious Diseases 98:211, 1956). Erythrocytes sensitized with this antigen are agglutinated by homologous antibodies in normal human serum with heterogenetic antibodies in bacterial antisera from man and rabbit. Staphylococcus aureus, Listeria mo'nocytogenes, and Bacillus subtilis, all containing heterogenetic antigen, were grown on brain-veal agar in Kolle flasks for 18 hr at 37 C; the resulting growth

Analysis of Bacterial Contaminant in Pasir Gudang, Johor Tap Water Supply–Varies pH Value Observation
The number of breakthrough pathogenic activity in water distribution network system is constantly increasing day by day especially at level of consumption. Bacterial growth or survival rate often relates to acidity and alkalinity of water. Sudden changes in pH value and temperature indicates a possibility of present bacterial contaminant in aqueous environment. The observation of pH- and temper...
متن کاملHeterogenetic Antibodies in Acute Hepatitis
A heterogenetic antibody showing fixation of complement with human liver and agglutination of sheep erythrocytes was found in certain cases of acute infective hepatitis. The antigen concerned in these reactions was apparently heat stable and alcohol soluble. Differences from other heterogenetic antigen-antibody systems have been noted. The possible relation of the heterogenetic antibody to live...
